Creating Elements

"I have had the absolute privilege of working with some of the UK's leading Architects and industry professionals in the high-end residential sector over the last decade.

I remember as a junior watching colleagues with intrigue and fascination, for the skill and craft to design and draw free-hand. Despite the loose appearance, every stroke of the pen placed with intent and purpose. I know now, these were moments of pure brilliance; the organic process of imagination portrayed on an empty page and although unbeknownst at the time, these were the fundamentals to creating the drive I have today.

Over the years, I was fixated on perfecting the ability to hand-draw but Architecture is not limited to a single skill. I value the ability to design and draw by hand, far beyond that of any digital program or software but over time I realised that rather than emulating the skills of someone else, it was more important to refine my own strengths and skills and to harness something more unique. I eventually found a niche between my technical background as an Architectural Technologist and my love for Architecture as a conceptualist.

I cant help being a perfectionist and often face the frustrating scenario, like many others, of not knowing when something is good enough. I believe I have found harmony; by accepting, for what perfection is today, is only tomorrow's opportunity for improvement. This way, we can recognise that perfection is simply an ever evolving scale. Elements Architectural Studio is built around this.

The name Elements symbolises the design process; from initial sketches and scribbles to a final, polished design. It's a nod to the very nature of everything around us and the ability, as professional in our industry, to combine components and skills, bridging the gap between conceptual ideology and physical realisation.

I started Elements Architectural Studio with the principle of offering the design process with a more simplified view. Not a diluted, overly basic, inert approach but a holistic vision to pare back the complexities clients often face in our industry and to utilise the skills I've developed to provide a more refined service. Designing your home should be exciting but often this is lost through a daunting lack of information or over complicated processes. I want Elements Architectural Studio to represent attention to detail and a thorough approach, yet with a finely tuned, simple and organic process to ensure from the first impression to the last, a project is enjoyable, not as a process, as a journey."

"Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication".
