As London's Clerkenwell Design Week 2026 draws to a close today, we want to reflect on our involvement. Ryan, our Director and Founder, had the privilege of being invited back to the Cosentino City London showroom for the third consecutive year. This year, Cosentino hosted the discussion event, 'The Language of Colour'.

Hosted by the incredible team at Cosentino City London, Ryan sat alongside a diverse and highly experienced panel. This included Karen Haller, a Colour Psychologist and Behavioural Design Consultant; Mathew Freeman, former President of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) and Director of Freeman Studio; and Matt Robb, Marketing and Media Manager for Stone Federation UK. The event was chaired by the brilliant Vanessa Champion, PhD, editor of the Journal of Biophilic Design.

Key Insights from the Discussion

If you weren't there, you might wonder what you missed. While we won't delve into every detail of the hour-long talk, we will highlight the main topics and points raised.

Transforming Experiences with Colour

One of the key discussions revolved around how materiality, texture, and light transform our emotional and sensory experience of colour within architectural spaces. We explored how these elements work together to create environments that resonate with us on a deeper level.

The Influence of Colour and Natural Materials

We also examined the ways colour and natural materials influence human behaviour, wellbeing, and our emotional connection to place. It's fascinating how our surroundings can affect our mood and interactions.

Colour Beyond Paint

The conversation extended beyond traditional notions of colour. We discussed the concept of "Colour Beyond Paint," which invites us to consider how colour manifests in various materials and finishes. This perspective opens up new avenues for creativity in design.

Identity, Culture, and Narrative in Design

Identity, culture, and narrative play significant roles in design. We reflected on how colour choices can convey stories and cultural significance, enriching the spaces we inhabit.

Timelessness vs. Trends

Finally, we tackled the balance between timelessness and trends. We considered the importance of 'Future Thinking,' sustainability, and longevity in our design choices. It’s essential to create spaces that not only look good today but will also stand the test of time.

Let's Discuss Your Colour Journey

If you're eager to discuss any of these topics, we invite you to reach out. Whether you are part of the construction community, a fellow consultant or designer, or someone currently designing your own home, we are here to help. Let’s explore how we can assist you in your next discovery of colour!

In our journey through the world of colour, we find that it is not merely a visual element but a powerful tool that shapes our experiences and environments. We look forward to continuing this conversation and helping you create spaces that resonate with your vision.
